Jus Humanis is pleased to present its 2015 Spring Forum! We will be looking at how freedom of expression and freedom of religion interact, trying to find out if they really are the conflicting freedoms often portrayed, or whether they actually compliment each other.
Events will be taking place over the course of the week beginning 18 May. They will include lectures, a panel discussion and a film screening.
The first event will be a panel discussion titled: Can Law Protect and Assert both Rights? It will take place on 18 May at 17.00 in Pufendorf (Tryckeriet), in Lund. The facebook event is here.
This event will discuss freedom of expression and religion and whether they are mutually exclusive or whether they are complimentary to each other.
The panelists will be:
John P. Cerone: Distinguished Chair in Human Rights & Humanitarian Law at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute
Tasneem Khalil: Editor at the Independent World Report, Tasneen was tortured by the Bangladeshi government in 2007 for a writing a perceived “anti-Bangladeshi” blog
Maria Green: Visiting Professor at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute
The panel will be moderated by Amin Parsa, PhD candidate at Lund University.
Following the event we will be hosting a kick-off reception, to which you are all welcome!
