With June knocking on the door, we still have one more lecture to offer you before going on the long-deserved summer holiday. We are happy to invite you to an expert lecture on male violence against women on the 30th of May at 16.15 in the Beijing room of RWI (Stora Gråbrödersgatan 17B).
The lecture will be held by Ms Carolyn Hannan, an associate professor at Lund University, who also teaches gender equality and women’s human rights. Ms Hannan has been the Director of the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women in New York, the Senior Policy Adviser on Gender Equality in the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida, and the Chair of the OECD’s network on gender equality in development cooperation. In her lecture Ms Hannan will focus on male violence against women as a major human rights abuse. The scope of the problem and the consequences at different levels will be discussed and strategies for addressing violence against women presented. Additionally, the work of the United Nations in this area will be outlined.
